Alumni, friends, and members of the University community celebrated the dedication of the new Julis Romo Rabinowitz Building on April 5, 2017. A reimagining of the venerable “Old Frick” Laboratory, the building was made possible by a gift from Mitchell R. Julis ’77 P19 and Joleen Romo Julis P19, and named in honor of their families.

Alumni, friends, and members of the University community celebrated the new home of the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment on May 18. The center has an urgent goal: to help transition the world away from fossil fuels through research and education that will produce the solutions essential to preserving the planet for future generations. It was made possible by a $100 million gift from Gerhard Andlinger '52. The center's primary lecture and gathering space, Maeder Hall, made possible by a gift from Paul Maeder ’75, was also dedicated during the celebration.

Lawrence Otis Graham ’83: A Lifelong Love of Firestone

As an ambitious 17-year-old college freshman, Lawrence Otis Graham ’83 set his sights on getting published. He tried pitching two magazines a story on surviving the college admissions interview; both turned him down. Intent on his goal, he headed to Firestone Library to consult nonfiction books on educational issues written for young people.

Celebrating Gifts to the Center for African American Studies

Five alumni who joined together to name seminar rooms in historic Stanhope Hall, home to the Center for African American Studies, gathered on March 11 to dedicate the Hobson-Rogers Seminar Room on the first floor and the Barfield-Johnson Seminar Room on the second. President Christopher L. Eisgruber thanked the group for their commitment to education, diversity, and civic engagement.

The center combines Princeton’s strengths in materials science, environmental science, policy, and engineering—and adds a measure of entrepreneurial creativity—to develop practical technologies and affordable products that can provide renewable energy and mitigate damage to the environment.
